The OCS-RCS-GRS-RWS standards are an international voluntary standard that defines certification requirements for companies that guarantee the inclusion of recycled materials in their products. This type of certification focuses on the product, including its supply chain.
Calvelex is certified in these 4 standards that serve to meet the needs of companies seeking verify the recycled content of your products (traceability) and to verify social, environmental and chemicals responsible for its production.
Organic Content Standard Blended (OCS) applies to any product with requirements related to organic production that contains between 5 and 95% organic material. It’s an international, voluntary standard that provides chain of custody verification for materials originating on a farm certified to recognized national organic standards.
Organic Content Standard 100 (OCS)applies to any product with requirements related to organic production that contains between 95% and 100% organic material. It verifies the presence and amount of organic material in a final product and tracks the flow of the raw material from its source to the final product. It also covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of a product that contains at least 95 percent certified ‘organic’ materials.
Recycled Blended Claim Standard (RCS)
There is a growing consumer awareness of purchasing products containing recycled materials, which has led the textile industry, among others, to increasingly focus on this recycling market.
As per label grade RCS offers two logo varieties:
- RCS blended (minimum 5% recycled material content);
- RCS 100 (minimum 95% recycled material content).
Used as a chain of custody standard to track recycled raw materials through the supply chain. The goal is to improve the use of recycled materials.
Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
The GRS serves to meet the needs of companies seeking to verify the recycled content of their products (both finished and intermediate) and to verify responsible social, environmental, and chemical practices in their production.
The goals of the GRS are to define the requirements to guarantee specific characteristics regarding content and good working conditions, and that impacts related to the environment are minimized. This includes ginning, concentrating, weaving, dyeing, printing, and sewing companies.
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)
RWS is an international, voluntary standard that addresses animal welfare in sheep farms and chain of custody of wool from certified farms to the final product. RWS provides verification of the practices that are happening at farm level, giving brands a clear solution that will allow them to make claims about their wool sourcing with confidence.
